If you're moving to London soon and you're going to be looking for a job, here are some ways for you to be able to find one in London, this is assuming that you already have the right to work here. So you'll already have either a Visa or Passport that lets you work here. Unfortunately, I can't help with finding a job for you that will sponsor you for work. First before you start your search you're going to want to clean up your CV, make sure that it's updated and also make sure it's formatted to the standard that is common in the UK, just a simple Google search will help you find a template that will show you how to set up your CV that is accepted by employers here.
Here are four ways that you can find available jobs in London to apply to: 'Job Today' is a job listings app that makes it simpler and quicker to find a job in London than it usually is. It's totally free all you have to do is create a basic profile of yourself, a summary of your past experience, no need to upload your CV and then you can start looking. When you find a job you want to apply for, just click the apply button or you can open up a chat and ask the employer a little bit more about the role. Once you've applied you will hear back within 24 hours if it's a no or if they'd like to speak to you further. 'Job Today' has jobs in sectors like retail, hospitality and more, so download the app and see what they have available on there even if you haven't actually moved to London yet, it would be worth just seeing what's available what the salaries and hourly wages are like and you can have an idea for when you eventually move here. 'Job Today' is the sponsor of this video you can get the app completely for free just by clicking the link down in the description of this video.
Job boards like Reed and Indeed will list jobs that are available for almost any type of role in any industry all you have to do to find these job board sites is put into Google 'jobs in London in...' in your industry or the type of role that you're looking for and you'll see all of them pop up.
Depending on what you're looking for you might see tons of options that you can apply to the only downside of these job boards is that it's kind of like sending your CV into a black hole of a bajillion other CVS and you might apply for a lot of jobs and never hear anything back because a bunch of other people also applied for jobs. That being said you never really know when your one email or submission away from finding a great job for yourself so it's definitely still worth checking out. LinkedIn strawboard is also really good for anybody who's looking for like office based work. If you're looking for jobs in a certain sector, finding recruiters that work in that specific sector is a really great way to find out about jobs that never end up being listed online, just use Google to find recruiters in London for your industry and go to their website and submit your CV on there, in my experience only like 10 minutes after you submit your CV is when you're going to get a call from someone and they'll arrange for you to come in for an interview.
The interview is a little bit more casual than a job interview because they want to get to know you, what you're looking for, what your salary expectations are and what your past experience is. But you always want to be putting your best foot forward because if you don't they're not going to put you forward to their clients because they only want to put the best potential candidates forward for new jobs that pop up. Also recruiters are always free for potential employees to use make sure you never pay a recruiter to find you a job.
Speak to people! I know it's a crazy concept these days but don't forget the power of your personal network when it comes to finding a job in London even if you don't think you know anybody that lives in London yet then check LinkedIn you might have connections or email your friends and family put something on social media that you're gonna be moving to London and that you're gonna be looking for a job and if anybody knows of anything to get in touch. Also, let's say you're looking for a job in a cafe anytime you go into a cafe make sure you're asking the employees there if they know if there are any open job roles that you could possibly apply to. So once you find some jobs that you think would be a good fit the rest is pretty self explanatory, go ahead and apply for them, wait to hear back, make sure you're readily available to go in for interviews or have interviews over the phone and good luck.
I have a whole series about moving to and living in London, I have tons of videos now about how to find a flat, how to find jobs, stuff like that, even about my experience living in London as an American.
