If it's your first time to London and you are feeling a little bit nervous don't worry I'm gonna tell you about the common problems and mistakes that people run into during their first few days here so that you don't make them yourself! And I asked some of our community members in the 'Local Guide to London's' Facebook group what they ran into when they first came to London, so they've helped me out with some of these answers. The first one comes from Geneva, who said: "I tried to see so much in six days that I spent a lot of time going from one end of London to the other in one day... spending a lot of time on the tube or buses, instead of appropriately planning my days around the area I was in or nearby." Geneva this is very common don't worry a lot of people do this! When you're planning out your itinerary for a day and you want to get between each of the things you want to do and see, use the 'Citymapper' app or you could use 'Google Maps' as well, to figure out how long is gonna take you to get in between each of the things you want to do. Also, make sure that you adjust for the time that you're going to be travelling, because it will likely take you longer during rush hour, so just adjust that in the map so it can give you a bit more of an accurate timing.

When you google "City of canals", guess what shows up? Venice. But actually, Birmingham, in England, has more miles of canals than Venice or Amsterdam This is Britain's second largest city, only after London Hello everyone! Today I'm bringing you on a walk to the main areas of the city centre of Birmingham in England You're going to be able to see what are the things to do in Birmingham and how you can enjoy the city I love how easy and great it is to walk here There are so many pedestrian streets full of shops, restaurants, entertainment Everything seems to be interconnected and easy to reach This is Cathedral Square and the Cathedral here is one of the oldest buildings in the city still used for its original purpose The construction finished in 1715, which makes this more than 300 years old And until 1859 they used to bury people here in the church yard More than 60 thousand people were buried here During summer, 'Brummies' relax on the grass, enjoy the sun... it's nice! So now let's walk to another nice square in town Victoria [Renata] Were you trying to scare the birds? [Gordon] Yeah Well, it didn't work! Here we are, just five minutes away This square is named after Queen Victoria And here you can see two of the most beautiful historical buildings in Birmingham This is the Council House, which is the seat of the local government And over there, the Town Hall, which is a concert hall During the Victorian England, various monumental town halls were built all over England, but this was the first Also this building revives the Roman architecture with the columns, do you see? And it was the first significant construction in the 19th century to do that Museum and Art Gallery... Look at that, free entry This is New Street, one of the most famous streets in Birmingham If you go straight here you arrive at the Bullring, which is a major commercial area Actually, that's where we're ending this downtown tour, later But first Look at this now, Centenary Square Three very important and modern buildings Symphony Hall and the Convention Center over there And right here, the Library This is the largest public library in Europe. A million printed volumes, pretty impressive Inside the Convention Center From here we reach the canals and it's a whole new place To explain the importance of the canals here, let's go back a few centuries Birmingham was in the heart of the Industrial Revolution, which led to trades, to growth,..

Your first three days in London are most likely well stressful, I get it, even if you've done hours and hours of research once you get here and you're trying to put it all into practice it's really overwhelming. Fiirst you have to deal with trying to figure out public transportation then you have to go through your list of things you absolutely have to do and when you try to pick two things to do you realize they're like 40 minutes apart so you end up spending like two hours on public transportation that day cuz you're like I don't know what the heck is going on! At that point you're probably overwhelmed stressed and not really enjoying yourself. Instead of spending hours trying to do research and plan your own itinerary for a city you've never been to and that you know nothing about you can trust this local's knowledge and get my three day London itinerary I used my years of on the ground London experience plus my good local eye to create a three day itinerary that will help you to experience the best of London in a really super easy way if you're like damn I'd love to just walk off that plane in London and have my entire first three days planned for me then this is the thing for you. The three day London itinerary includes step by step instructions on how to experience the best of London this is all put into a PDF guide that not only tells you what you're supposed to be doing every day but also gives you some insider local knowledge that you wouldn't know otherwise things like the best time of day to visit something, local restaurants around the area that aren't tourist traps and stuff like that now this is a Love and London product so of course I did not stop with just a PDF guide that would be really difficult for you to follow once you're actually here in London, so included in the three day itinerary is a digital map that you add to your phone so when you're out and about here you can pull out your phone and you always know exactly where you're going so that you can follow the itinerary.

If you're thinking of moving to London I'm gonna tell you about the things that I did not expect when I first moved here, so hopefully you can be a little bit more prepared when you get here! This video is part of my living in London series so make sure you watch to the end of the video to get links to more helpful tips and tricks for anyone who's planning to move here! You won't live near the major sights! Now if you're hoping that you're gonna find a lovely apartment that overlooks Covent Garden or has views of Big Ben then unfortunately I hate to disappoint you but that's probably not gonna happen unless you are absolutely loaded! It is really expensive to live in central London where the most famous sights and attractions are but actually a lot of Londoners would prefer to live a little bit more outside of central London anyway, because there are some really lovely areas that have more of like a neighbourhood local feel and aren't quite as crowded as central London. You have to pay council tax on top of your rent! As an American this is not something that I was used to having to pay a tax on top of the rent that you're always paying when you're just renting, and you don't own a place. But that's something to consider when you are figuring out your budget and what you can afford in terms of what kind of rent you can pay for a place here in London! This video is sponsored by Job Today an app that makes finding a job in London quick and easy! No CV is needed all you need to do is create a basic profile with your photo, your information and your past experience. There are thousands of jobs on the app so when you see one that you like just click 'apply' to send in your profile or click to 'chat' and ask the employer some questions.

Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool are former industrial cities, which are located by rivers or canals, that were once vital for their economy, now all of these British cities made the transition into vibrant cultural hubs. In this series, I'm meeting up with locals, who show me their favorite spots and give me some insights on the history of their home towns, starting in Glasgow, welcome to Life by the River.
Welcome to Glasgow, welcome to the first publication of the series, in this episode, we will do some city exploration, we will try great food and of course, we will sample some fine whisky. First of all, I'm attending a City Tour to get an overview and to introduce you to the main sights of the city, starting here at the George Square. With more than 600,000 inhabitants, Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland, most of the historical sights and buildings, as well as a number of large murals are located in the city center, making it easy to explore the city by walking.
